Production
Following the Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, it was confirmed at the 2019 CinemaCon that future Alien films were in development. In March 2022, Fede Álvarez was announced to write and direct the first film after pitching his own story, which was noted to be "unconnected" to previous entries in the franchise, with plans for a Hulu release in the United States. By November, Cailee Spaeny was in negotiations to star. In March 2023, Isabela Merced was cast in an undisclosed role alongside Spaeny. Later that month, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu joined the cast in undisclosed roles. By November 2023, it was confirmed that the film would be set between "Alien" (1979) and "Aliens" (1986), with some technical crew members returning from the latter film, and visual effects provided by Image Engine, known for their work on "Alien: Ore" (2019).blog2
Principal photography took place in Budapest from March 9 to July 3, 2023, with the film being shot chronologically and featuring practical effects.
